TEMPLE HISTORY & MISSION

Built in 1923, The Temple formerly served as a Masonic Temple known as Capital City Lodge No. 217 or the “Railway Lodge,” as most of its members were employees of “The Omaha” railroad. The chapter moved to another location in 1985, and the Hlavac family purchased the building a decade later with an intention to merge their business and home life under one unconventional roof. The nearly 10,000 square foot space is adorned with original Masonic symbolism, Art Deco detailing, and a rich history of Freemason secrets. Now, The Temple, as we call it today, is opening its doors to the public to share its mystery with all who dare to be inspired, enchanted, and maybe even a little spooked.

Our mission is to provide a safe and inclusive space to our community for events and experiences of all kinds. We believe that creativity is the most powerful tool for liberation and aim to foster an environment of connection that allows creative energy to shine and inspire positive change.
